Trajan Decius rose to power with military support and attempted to revive traditional Roman religion. He is best known for his persecution of Christians and the introduction of the Decian edict, enforcing public sacrifices to the gods. His coinage features strong classical imagery, including Roma, Jupiter, and personifications of the Roman virtues. Decius fell in battle against the Goths, becoming the first emperor to die fighting a foreign enemy.
